Imagine being told your unborn baby is most likely going to die.

That's what happened to me in 2012. I was 30, had undergone IVF treatment and was suddenly being told my little boy was going to be very sick and probably wouldn't make it at all.

I was also 7-months pregnant and running my own business. By then, I was at year 7 and I was still very much, the person doing everything in the business. I was the admin, sales, marketing, delivery driver and the person doing the actual work too.

It became evident pretty quickly that I needed to get help, fast!

So, I employed a van driver, started outsourcing to 10 subcontractors and collaborated with two commercial business to do the actual work.

My son was born and luckily survived but he had a fight on his hands. He spent 3 months in neonatal intensive care fighting for his life and in order for me to be there with him as much as possible, I had to do something I had never done before.

I had to implement systems and processes. With all these moving parts I needed a way to keep everything on track so, I got super organised and put time and project management systems in place.

Over those 3 months my son spent in hospital, something else happened. My business started to grow. It was then I realised, that I had been the bottleneck all along. By removing myself from the day-to-day, I was able to scale.

The three principles that made this possible, were systems, processes and people. It was a game changer. In 2014, after 10 long years, I sold that business. In 2021, I started L.T. VA Services which originally, was a virtual assistant agency.

In under four years we scaled to 6-figures using those principles. In 2026, we pivoted into online management, systems and strategy and changed the business to L.T. Business Management.

So, if you're listening to the work hard, knee-deep hustle we hear all the time know this. It doesn't matter how many early mornings or late nights you work. It doesn't matter how exhausted you get or how many holidays and family occasions you sacrifice. Without systems, processes and people, you're never going to scale your business.
